Did anyone see the Panarama documentary on racism on BBC1(UK) last night? It did mention the driving out of Roma families from Northern Ireland, but referred to them as Romanian.

Has anyone seen the "This World" documentary entitled, "Gypsy Child Thieves" first broadcast on BBC2(UK)on 2nd September at 19.00? Unfortunately its not availiable on BBC iplayer, but here is a synopsis:
International investigative documentary series.
With extraordinary access to the closed world of Europe's Gypsies, as well as dramatic covert footage, This World examines how Romanian Gypsy children across the continent are forced to beg and steal, often for the profit of organised crime. The film also highlights the racism and discrimination suffered by the Romani people and efforts to integrate them into mainstream culture.
From Madrid to Milan to Romania, film maker Liviu Tipurita uncovers a shocking phenomenon of children trafficked to beg and steal.

Comedians rewrite ‘gipsy’ joke
Yes, it’s political correctness gone mad and we’re all going to hell in a rickety old handcart. The BBC has sensationally banned comedians Alexander Armstrong and Ben Miller from using the word “gipsy” in their new sketch show.
However, ironically the pair were set to use the term in a skit which pokes fun at the outdated, bigoted attitudes of the 1970s.
“They say ‘gipsies’ is a racist term and you think, ‘Yes it is, but that’s the point that we’re making’,” said Ben. “We wanted to make fun of racist public information films from the ‘70s and considered using the word in that context.
“After discussing the issue both amongst ourselves and with the BBC, we decided to use a different word. That word? Itinerants. Trips off the tongue, doesn’t it?” continued the disgruntled comedian.
However, an insider at the Beeb denied it was the word itself which had been banned – just the context in which Armstrong and Miller were using it. “It was about the sketch as a whole and the potential to cause offence,” the unnamed censor chirped.
In the interests of balance, The Sun put in a call to Clare McGurin of the Travellers Advice Team for clarification. The result: “There is nothing racist or wrong about the word ‘gipsy’. Lot’s of travellers are happy to be referred to as gipsies.”
